Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day, sometimes known as Mothering Sunday, is a day to honour mothers and other mother figures, such as grandmothers, stepmothers and mothers-in-law. Many people make a special effort to visit their mum on that day and those who live too far away usually send her a gift and a card.

Popular Mother’s Day gifts are cards, flowers, cakes, chocolate, jewellery, clothing or gift vouchers.

Some people do not give a physical gift, but choose to treat their mum to a special meal, beauty treatment or fun day out.

There are many different ways to celebrate Mother’s Day  such as: family gathering, Mother’s Day poem, personal phone call or video chat.

This year we (in England) celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday, 11 March.
